Sundayyyyyyy. Here we are again.
I am continuing on with the subscription donation project. The organization for April is Lupus LA. This is a great organization suggested by my wonderful friend Kelsey. Kelsey is also great and I highly suggest you check out her TikTok. If you are new here (welcome!) or need a refresher, you can always find more details of the project on my About page. And if you want to be a matching donor, let me know.
This newsletter means a lot to me. If you are connecting with the work at all, please consider clicking the heart button and/or leaving a comment and/or sharing it. And after you share it, put on a disguise so you can share it again. No one will ever know.
A refusal to get up and start the day after the first wake up. An acknowledgement that you are an adult and you get to decide when to get out of bed. Also, you live alone so no one even has to know you went right back to sleep.Â
A sigh of relief when you finally decide to get up and you lift up your sleep mask and it’s a little gray outside. If the sun is hiding, you feel less guilty about hiding too.Â
A debate about whether you are going to do a little workout. Yes-and-no. Back-and-forth. You do it, begrudgingly. Then you realize you feel awake and a bit upbeat and that makes you mad. Somehow, it almost always usually does something good.
A leisurely meander through the myriad of news and newsletters that are in your inbox. And Post Secret. Out of a decade+ of a habit.
A breakfast that, timing wise, is really more like lunch. You’d say brunch but it’s a vegan strawberry scone and some tots with cheese on them. And matcha. You’re not sure you could even call that a meal.Â
A desire to spend the morning (afternoon) living like a child who is awake before their parents on a Saturday morning. A weird breakfast (check). Cartoons (Pepper Ann, Recess, check check). Being horizontal for hours (check check check).
A realization that it is four hours later and you’ve been playing a phone game the whole time. Sooooo…you should probably do…something? else?Â
A short burst of motivation for spring cleaning (which, right now, is spring dirty-ing). You put on a home show as you go through every basket from your bathroom. Most of which don’t really need any tidying to begin with.Â
A weekly tradition of a few text messages, a list of options, and a surprisingly fast decision for once.Â
A moment of connection from 2500 miles away through wires and airwaves and a science you don’t quite understand. Whatever it is, it makes you happy. And sing a little. Because there is almost always singing in the movie you pick to watch together. Oh, and you are eating leftover pizza too.Â
A flash of whatever anxieties are at the edge of the new week and the edge of your mind. You aren’t sure if you will latch onto them and they will accompany your dreams or if they are just that. A flash.Â
A shower? We’ll see.Â
A nighttime routine of delusion. You tell yourself you should go to bed earlier. But no, there’s a sitcom, more phone games, and moisturizer. Eventually the alarm clock next to your bed that tells you, you failed. It’s late.Â
A final thought that yes, you are (probably) gonna make it after all. Just very sleepily. Â

The question is, did I do my laundry? Or did I just take pictures of dryers?

The best accessory to wear on your nose.
This week, paying subscribers joined me in another haiku salon, this one painted in barely-there pink. If that sounds intriguing to you, consider becoming a paid subscriber.
