The ghouls party, the ghosts toast
Monthly Haikus #24 - The nice and also tiring visits from beloved guests
Well hello to all my paid subscribers during this not anxious time at all.
I’ll admit, the timing of this haiku salon is weird for a couple of reasons: 1) it’s a week late and b) it is, indeed, Election Day. But since y’all are so kind to be supporters and there haven’t been a lot of other paid editions lately, I wanted to make sure to get it out as close to the regular haiku salon day as possible. I also feel like sending it ON Election Day is probably better than AFTER because who knows where our brains will be?? …who knows where they are now? Who knows?!?!
Anyway, welcome to the 24th edition of the monthly literary salon full of haikus written especially and specifically for you. Y’all are the reason why I can say I’m a paid writer which opens the way for someone to say, “Well well well, aren’t you just a fancy pants?” And who doesn’t want to feel like a fancy pants?! Thank you for contributing to my very fancy pants.
The inspiration for these haikus are picked by popular vote each month. For the last edition…the haiku salon snuck up on me so I went ahead and shared a poem I had already written.
But THEN I got back on track and conducted a poll about the thing that makes you happy and also the most tired. The most popular response: visits from beloved guests. I happen to agree!
So, that’s the inspiration for this month's haikus.
And, now that I’m back on track, I am continuing with letting y’all pick the topic for these haikus. So please be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom and answer the poll.
Without further ado, unlock the door, open a bottle of wine, and settle in for a nice time.

NOW, on to the poll. Since we’re all thinking about this today, let’s let our favorite (or most effective) self-care activities inspire November’s haikus:
