I am continuing on with the subscription donation project. The organization for September is Las Fotos Project. (Thank you, Monet, for the suggestion.)
If you are new here (welcome!) or need a refresher about the project, you can always find more details of the project on my About page.
So, if you are enjoying this newsletter or connecting to it at all, I’d love if you would like, comment, or give it a social media shout out to help make the impact go farther. We’ve really plateaued in terms of subscriptions, so if you could share the newsletter with just one other person, it would just mean a lot to me. That’s all.
The last few week’s newsletters have been existential and/or sentimental so let’s…not…do that…this week.
Instead, this week, we are going to revisit something that is very familiar to me. You might say, it’s an obsession. It’s an obsession that keeps me organized and covers a whole lot of ground. In order to illustrate this obsession, I am going to use the obsession.
That’s right. It’s another list.
Not only that but it’s a list of all the lists I have, keep, and love. At least all the ones I can remember or find. God, I love a list.
Let’s begin:
My Walls
- I have three canvases on my wall. They say “morbid,” “beautiful,” and “practical.” My friend Kate said this about me. It’s basically a list so I’m counting it.
- In the same vein, my whole apartment is pretty much a gallery wall. I’m also counting that.
Weekly To-Do list
This lives in my planner and I make a new one every Monday. No matter the week, there are some constants:
- Move my body
- Write the newsletter (paid and free)
- Creative stuff
- Make a tiktok or two
- Job searching stuff
You get the idea.
Google Drive lists
- Writing submission tracking
- Spooky movie watching tracking
- Bestie Cross Country Movie Night - a tab for to watch and a tab for watched
- Journey through Disney Animation tracking list - I started at the beginning and I am almost here…well, done. I went for the joke.
Writing Idea Notebook
- List of tiktok ideas including haunted house, Dick Van Dyke opening theme recreation, how I watch TV alone, etc.
- Titles of my memoir
- Assets I needed for when I redid my website
The Book of Lists
Yes, this is a notebook filled exclusively with lists.
- Holiday Presents 2021
- To Do before Holidays (2021)
- To Buy before Holidays (2021)
- Netflix Synopses (I wrote synopses for Netflix for a couple of months so this is my tracking list of what has shown up on the service.)
- Post Netflix Job Search (Welp…I did all those super quick. Past Samantha with so much hope.)
- Holiday Packing List (2021)
- 2022: Theme, Song, Goals, To-Dos, If-they-happens (This is actually a low pressure list so don’t worry too much. Seriously. DON’T WORRY. I AM VERY CHILL.)
- Things that Make Me Feel Better (because, you know, anxiety and depression happen)
- Spring Cleaning Plan 2022
- Buying Wishlist
- To Do before August Travel 2022
- August Travel Plans 2022
- August Travel Packing List 2022
So…that’s what I’ve got. Near me or off the top of my head anyway.
You know, the more I look at this, the more I think I should probably send this week’s edition straight to my therapist.
